14 Years Of PDP’s Rule Disastrous – Nyako

Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inflicted the worst damage on Nigeria since it took over the government at the centre in the last 14 years.
The governor, who defected alongside four others to the All Progressives Congress (APC) vowed never to return to the PDP fold, saying that the resignation of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as PDP national chairman would not make him change his position.
Nyako made his position known shortly after his arrival to the state at the Yola International Airport yesterday from Abuja.
The governor also debunked speculations making the rounds that the PDP leaders are making frantic efforts to woo him as well as the other governors who defected to APC, saying that the call is coming a little bit late as they have finally bade the PDP a final farewell.
Nyako said that any move to pacify him into PDP is an effort in futility, advising PDP to rather concentrate on resolving its deluge of internal crises instead of embarking on a futile project.
His words: “The move to woo us back into the PDP is an effort in futility. If they are talking this among themselves it is a different matter, not about defected governors.
“We have taken a very sensible decision to dump PDP in the best interest of this country, as all of us have resolved to move forward, not backward.”
The governor reiterated that the issue that warranted their decision was not about political party or personality but about the interest of the nation and the development of democracy.
“We resolved to move to APC in order to move the nation forward and nothing is going to take us back.”
Nyako explained that PDP government has failed to live up to its billing in the last 14 years of its rule and that as such, it deserved no sympathy.
“PDP has ruled the country for over 14years, but it has failed the country although in some states the governors are doing their best,” he added.
