Fresh Voilence In Rivers State.

Reports from Bori in Khana Local Government of Rivers State indicate that unknown gunmen have launched attack at the venue of the program organized today by the Save Rivers Movement.

An eye witness disclosed that some youths armed with different dangerous weapons stormed the venue early Sunday morning destroying the arrangements that has been made for the event.
He also said a number of people have been killed in the attack.

The outside Broadcast van of Channels Television that was to beam the event live was also attacked.

When contacted to confirm if the Rivers State Police command has approved to provide security for the programme, Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Mohammad was unable to give an affirmative answer.

You would recall that the Legal representative of the Save Rivers Movement, Ken Astuwete had approached the Police command to request for police protection for their programme.

Platform9ja also learnt that the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), a socio-political group floated by the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike has also planned to hold a rally in Degema-Kalabari, headquarters of Degema Local Government Area same day.

This being the umpteen time violence would spur up in Rivers state making the state a bit ungovernable.
