The South-West People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has held an emergency meeting in Oyo state, to discuss the region’s lack of executives, among other issues.
In the course of the meeting, members pointed out that only the South West zone lacked formal executives and asked the party’s National Working Committee to set a date for a South West congress where such positions would be put in place.
Speaking on behalf of the members at the meeting, the Ogun state PDP Chairman, Dayo Lawal, reiterated the party’s allegiance to President Jonathan and stated that there were ongoing efforts by leaders in the party, to ensure that unity remained in the party, especially among those who had one issue or the other in the party.
Meanwhile, the Imo state All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked that the youths in the state accommodate the party as the 2015 general elections approach.
Speaking to the youths during a party rally in the Obowo Local Government Area of the state, the state’s Commissioner for Finance, Chike Okafor, asked that they join in and be party to the “wind of change” that was going to blow across the nation. He informed those present that there were solid plans by the party to empower the youths by providing quality education and employment.
Okafor urged the youths of Imo state to support the chairman of the APC Governors forum, Rochas Okorocha, as the governor continued to work towards completing projects in the state.
