2015: Why Jonathan Will Never Be Re-elected – Melaye

The executive secretary of Anti-Corruption Network and former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Dino Melaye has said that the “tenancy” of President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja would expire on May 29, 2015 and that it would never be renewed due to the monumental failures of his administration.
Melaye made the assertion in Abuja, yesterday while speaking with LEADERSHIP. He said that the massive corruption which has characterised Jonathan’s administration was unparalleled in the history of the country and that under Jonathan’s leadership corruption has become a way of life. He noted that his anti-corruption group had indicted eight ministers in Jonathan’s administration of corruption but the said ministers have never been invited for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC). “We have petitioned eight ministers to EFCC none of them have
been invited to take statement. It is a systemic failure,” Melaye said. He alleged that some ministers in the present administration are committing acts of corruption with impunity because they enjoy protection from President Jonathan.
He also described the recent recruitment exercise carried out by the Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS) in which many Nigerian youths lost their lives as another manifestation of corruption among ministers in Jonathan’s administration, saying that in other climes, the minister of internal affairs, Mr Abba Moro would have resigned.
without waiting to be sacked. He said, “ In a civilised society the minister ought to have resigned immediately in honour of the souls that departed but the nonchalant attitude of the minister and the inaction of Mr President has demonstrated that the PDP led government is evil.
“But we will not rest on our oars, the minister and the controller general of immigration must go. We will do anything within the confines of the law to make sure that they leave, because one soul of a Nigerian is important to us not to talk of the souls of upcoming generation. It is better to remain alive unemployed than to die unemployed. And this will serve as a deterrent to other ministers and MDAs who use unemployment as a means for revenue generation. And the president must order that monies must be refunded back to the owners because it is criminal to generate that kind of money which abinitio is not even going to government treasury”.
