As the controversy on the presidential ticket of the All Progressive
Congress (APC) rages, one of the party’s chieftains and Leadership
Newspaper’s publisher, Sam Nda-Isaiah, has said the most important thing
is defeating the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s
general polls, noting that the ongoing debate on ticket combinations is
beside the point.
Nda-Isaiah, who recently stepped down as
Chairman of his company, is set to contest the presidential race. In a
statement he sent to THISDAY yesterday, he said although his campaign
team was aware of the ongoing ticket debacle, it would not be
distracted.
He said “I’m aware of the raging controversy but for
our campaign that is not an issue with us at all. Whether some people
are working on a Muslim-Muslim ticket or on a Christian-Christian ticket
or on Muslim-Christian ticket or a Christian-Muslim ticket, I intend to
win the APC Presidential primary ticket and proceed to defeat President
Jonathan because we know how important that is for this country”
A recent report suggested that the APC was considering many options on
the best way to present its presidential flag bearer and running mate as
it prepares for its national conventions.
