Alhaji Gambo Dan-Pass, a Chieftain of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) in Kano State, has urged delegates of Northern extraction
at the National Conference to think of Nigeria first in their
discussions.
Dan-pass made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Sunday.
He said: “there is an urgent need for delegates from the North to shun tribalism and religious differences; they should concentrate on what will benefit the region and the entire country.’’
He also advised the delegates to pay special attention to issues that hindered the socio-economic development of the region in particular and the country at large.
He added that “delegates must also consider the current security challenges bedeviling the region and work toward finding a lasting solution to the problem.
“If the North is to make significant progress in economic development, we must come up with programmes to empower the teeming number of unemployed persons in the region
and the country at large,’’ he stressed.
Dan-pass who holds the traditional title of “Dansaran Kano’’, urged Northern governors to establish dams in their respective states to stop the incessant Fulani/farmers clashes.
He said that establishing the dams was necessary as it would curtail the rampant movement of herdsmen and their cattle and sheep.
The APC chieftain also said that establishing cattle routes would go a long way in providing a lasting solution to the incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers. (NAN)
