Confusion in Imo APC over party chairman

Ahead of the April 23 state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, there are speculations that the state governor, Rochas Okorocha, may have decided who should be the next
state chairman of the party.
The governor was said to have adopted Mr. Hilary Eke and Emma Ezebuiro as state chairman and secretary of the party respectively during a meeting of party stakeholders held at the Government House Owerri last Friday.
The Governor prior to the meeting, had zoned the state chairmanship position to Owerri zone.
Some members of the party, who said they were present at the meeting, described the action of the governor as surprising saying the position should have gone to Aboh Mbaise in Owerri zone but was suddenly changed to Ezinihitte Mbaise.
Immediate past chairman of the party, Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu,  expressed shock over the alleged selection describing it as unfortunate in the life of the party.
Okaforanyanwu who was not at the meeting wondered how and why a party could select his chairman and secretary before the congress, saying that what transpired is outside the party constitution.
But Governor Rochas Okorocha has denied endorsing anybody for any position, promising that all aspirants would be given level playing ground during the party congress.
He said that those who left the party did so because they were told that he had adopted somebody, adding that such cannot be possible.
