The Imo State Chairman ofthe All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Marshall Okaforanynwu has denied media report that he is in war with Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State over the party’s congress to be held in all the local government areas in state.
He said members of the party in the state were rather uncomfortable
with the Governor Okorocha’s reported announcement to introduce zoning to harmonize the executive positions of the party including the chairmanship. The chairman told Weekly Trust in Owerri yesterday that “the APC has no zoning formula and wondered why the Governor should introduce it to push out some members who have labored and toiled to build the party from the scratch at this time when the party needed them for feature elections.”
The Chairman expressed surprise that even in such scenario, people who were supposed to be consulted were not, adding that the zoning does not border on the administration of the state but purely on political party.
He warned that the zoning in the party should be treated with every seriousness, because the constitution of the party is still silent on it.
He wondered why Imo should be different from other 15 APC states which has complied with party decision at the national level to retain their state former executives members.
