President Goodluck Jonathan has said the challenges of insecurity being faced in the country are not God’s design but man-made.
The President said with prayers, christians and adherents of other
religions and the Federal Government would bring the challenges to an
end.
Jonathan spoke on Tuesday at the centenary celebration service of the
Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), held at Idi-Ishin, Ibadan, Oyo
State, and was represented by the Minister of State for the Federal
Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Olajumoke Akinjide.
The president pledged to continue to strengthen the unity of the
country and “firmly address the challenges of insecurity, and create the
conditions for a brighter future.”
Jonathan, commended the Baptist Church as a good model in church
democracy and resilience, urged the church to continue its contributions
to the peace building processes and
development of the country.
Jonathan reaffirmed his commitment to national transformation and the
mandate entrusted in him by Nigerians in 2011, calling for God’s
intervention in the affairs of the country.
“The Baptist church in Nigeria has also exhibited strong commitment
to the well-being and development of the society through great social
work in health and education.

seminaries, spread across the country were open to all Nigerians
regardless of region, religion or social affiliation,” he said.
