Presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, reported that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has sacked Ahmed Gulak, his Special Adviser on Political Matters, with immediate effect.
As at now, the President has not given any reason why Mr. Gulak was removed.
But news agencies had it that it probably had to do with the recent attack on Akwa Ibom state Governor, Godswill Akpabio, as well as the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party by Mr Gulak.
At a recent party meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital, the executive
governor, Mr. Akpabio and the state executive of the party condemned Mr. Gulak’s move “to inaugurate a sectional and unknown Support Group in favour of our dear President without bothering to pay any courtesies to the state leadership of the party.”
According to the party, who warned him to desist from further interfering in the affairs of the PDP in Akwa Ibom said, Mr. Gulak is playing “ignoble and contemptuous role” in the affairs of the party in the state.
