Paid social media ‘activists’ must stop insulting Jonathan – PDP Youth Frontier leader
The National Coordinator, Peoples’ Democratic Party
Youth Frontier, PDPYF, Austin Usman, has asked
Nigerians to desist from insulting the office and person
of President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, the seat of the President is the most
exalted throne in the federation attained by the will of
God, hence the need to respect its occupier.
“We are not asking everybody to love our leader; we
are aware of freedom of expression but there is a limit
to such.
“But for some disgruntled persons, especially
opposition leaders to hire youths to engage Mr
President on social media, calling him names like
‘imbecile, clueless, fool, stupid’ is unacceptable.
“This is no longer politics but outright insult on the
person of Mr. President and downgrading the potency
of number one office in Nigeria. No matter what, you
don’t have to rain insults to make your point across to
your audience”, he stressed.
The PDP Youth Frontier, therefore, advised those
insulting Mr. President and others leaders to stop,
saying he is the country’s number one symbol of
authority and must be respected by all, irrespective of
their faith, tribe, philosophy and political affiliation
Continuing, Usman accused a former FCT minister,
Nasir El Rufai, of insulting leaders and instigating
others to do same.
“Before you insult Mr. President, let us think twice and
reflect back on the antecedent of the so called saint and
Mr. perfect! El’rufai has eventually condemned
everybody.
“In 2011, El’rufai told the whole world how 3 billion
US Dollars disappeared under him from PTDF, how 53
suit case was smuggled into the country by Buhari
ADC.
“Also in 2011, he told the whole world that Jonathan is
a clean and honest man and that Nigerians should
support Jonathan.
“He called Yar’adua a smoker, a drunk and a man of
self low esteem. Now, the same individual believes
Jonathan is an incompetent and corrupt man”, he
added.
Advising the Nigerian youths not to emulate the elder
ones, the youth leader said, “We are youths today, we
are the leaders of tomorrow, we shouldn’t allow men of
yesterday to destroy our tomorrow. Most of them
fanning the ember of discord and unrest have different
houses abroad as many of their children are not even in
this country”.
Usman concluded by calling on all Nigerians to
support President Jonathan in transforming the nation.
