Two suspected members of Boko Haram
were feared killed with one arrested when
soldiers raided their hideout in Filin Polo
area of Katsina municipal, yesterday.
It was gathered that the soldiers who acted
on security information trailed the
suspected Boko Haram members from Kano
State before launching the raid around 6 am.
Residents of the area who scampered for
safety confirmed that they heard series of
gunshots when the soldiers who arrived in
Hilux vehicles stormed the area.
“We woke up to a confusion of some sort as
all we kept hearing were gunshots which
forced a lot of people to run for safety. We
were lucky that it was early morning and so
most people were still at home,” a resident
said.
Our correspondents who visited Filin Polo
area reports that an uncompleted building
where the Boko Haram members were said
to be using as hideout was
riddle with
bullets.
Confirming the incidence to our
correspondent through telephone interview,
the commanding officer of 35 Battalion
Nigeria Army in Katsina, Col. Alhassan
Gerema, said his men acted on information
about Boko Haram.
“We heard information about Boko Haram
and we acted on it. Two people died, one
person was arrested,” Col. Gerema said.
