2015: We’ll Prevail On Atiku To Contest For APC Presidential Ticket – Group

The coalition of groups working to get former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to contest the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have promised not to rest on their oars until he bows to their wish. Director General of Atiku Support Group, Abdulrazak Namdaz, stated this yesterday. He said in a democracy, people should be allowed to make choices based on what they want. He said since the leadership of the APC has now been put in place from the ward to the national levels, the party has now proven to be a strong and united opposition party. Namdaz said that as far as party members know, there is no strong indication yet that the presidential ticket of the APC has been zoned to a particular part of the North by the party. He stressed that under the present circumstance, Atiku is the most appropriate person for the nation’s top job as far as their groups are concerned. “He has the experience being a vice president for eight years. Atiku has contacts nationally and internationally which will be a great advantage to the party and the nation”, he said. The call is coming on the heels of a statement released by the former vice president’s Media office stating that Atiku has not been zoned out of the APC presidential race.
