APC, Tinubu afraid of losing their investments in Ekiti —PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the
statements issued by the All Progressives Congress (APC)
and its National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, threatening
war and anarchy should the result of today’s governorship
election in Ekiti State go against the APC as “lamentation
of political merchants that are about to lose their
investments.”
Deputy Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of Ayo
Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO), Mr Lere Olayinka,
said in a statement issued on Friday that “it is obvious that
the reality of an impending rejection of his slave drivers
by the people of Ekiti State is already dawning on Tinubu,
and he must weep.”
PDP said it was strange that despite the fact that electoral
laws forbid campaigns 48 hours to an election, Tinubu and
his APC could still go to the media to carry out indirect
campaigns for their party, while also trying to arm-twist
and blackmail the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) and the security agencies.
“We had expected that Tinubu and his party would respect
the electoral laws, but since the leopard can never change
the colour of its skin, they have behaved true to type by
campaigning for APC and Governor Kayode Fayemi.
“Most importantly, we are not unmindful of the fact that
Tinubu’s fear of an impending loss of Ekiti, which he has
turned to his political colony, has (affected) his mind, such
that he does know that Nigeria is not owned by him and
(that he) cannot dictate how government agencies perform
their duties.
“We, therefore, urge INEC and security agencies involved
in the election to ignore Tinubu and his ranting of an
impending loser, and do their jobs in accordance with the
constitution of Nigeria.
“Nigerians should also bear in their minds that election is
only free and fair when it is won by the APC, but otherwise
when other parties win,” Olayinka said.
