IG assures Nigerians of peaceful election in Osun
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has
assured Nigerians of a peaceful election in Osun state next
month. The IG of Police who commended Nigerians,
particularly the people of Ekiti State for their enviable peaceful
conduct before, during and after the 21 June 2014
gubernatorial election held in the state said all elections in the
country will be peaceful.
The IGP was particularly pleased with the very high level of
comportment, discipline, orderliness, patience and
understanding exhibited by the citizens throughout the period
of the election.
He noted the huge assistance extended to the police and other
law enforcement agencies by the citizens which made the
election hitch-free.
Adding that the police and other security agencies expects
similar level of citizens’ cooperation and support especially in
Osun state where similar elections will take place soon on 9
August.
He enjoins citizens to remain calm, confident, hopeful and
trusting in the ability of the Police and other relevant agencies
to discharge their constitutional mandate of ensuring the safety
of lives and property and protecting the democratic rights and
freedoms of the citizens.
He pledges the preparedness of the Force to consolidate and re-
enact the Ekiti security success story in other future elections.
The IGP has equally given kudos to police personnels and
other security agencies assigned to election duties in Ekiti for
their professional conduct, noting that, their exemplary
conduct is an eloquent indicator of the readiness of the Force
to provide the needed atmosphere for future elections in the
country.
He charges the officers to remain focused and committed in the
discharge of their duties to their fatherland.
