Jonathan Promises Free And Fair Polls In Ekiti

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday promised that the Ekiti polls will be free and fair and that he’ll ensure adequate security for voters. He also warned those who intend to hire thugs to subvert the will of the people to have a rethink. The President’s remarks were made as he stormed Ado-Ekiti to campaign for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) flag-bearer in the Ekiti governorship elections, Ayodele Fayose. The President also said he hasn’t been to the State a lot lately because they have been no projects to commission and promised to join forces with Ayo Fayose (if he’s elected governor) to develop the State. “”I only came to Ekiti during Segun Oni PDP-led Government to commission projects. When you vote Fayose and the PDP returns to Ekiti again, I will join hands with him to develop this state,” Jonathan said. Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, who spoke on behalf of the PDP Governors’ Forum said the mammoth crowd that had turned out to receive them was indicative of the fact that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was fast losing ground in the State. “Today, Ekiti people have rejected All Progressive Congress (APC). Ekiti people have spoken today. Even if Fayose made mistakes in his first term, but he is now a changed person and ready to join the President in transforming the country. We hereby present to you a brand new Fayose,” Akpabio said. The National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, was also ecstatic with the turn out and thanked the people of Ekiti for showing that they had rejected the APC. Vice President Namadi Sambo in his remarks promised that a PDP led government in the State will solve the problems of a dearth of teachers and transportation.
