Ngige confident of reclaiming Anambra governorship through higher court
The candidate the of All Progressives Congress in the
2013 Anambra governorship election, Dr Chris Ngige
has expressed confidence that he will claim the
governorship position through a higher court.
Ngige, who was reacting to the Wednesday’s judgment
by the Anambra Governorship election petition
tribunal which gave victory to Governpor Willie
Obiano, said he was not deterred, but would continue
to fight for the correction of the alleged sham which
was imposed on the people of the state as election.
Speaking through the deputy director of his campaign
organization, Mr Okelo Madukaife, Ngige said, “The
Anambra State Election Petition Tribunal headed by
Hon Justice Ishaq Bello in their wisdom dismissed the
petition filed by Senator Chris Ngige along with our
great party, All Progressives Congress, (APC).
“We were surprised that in some aspects of the
judgment, the tribunal surprisingly overruled the Court
of Appeal.
“So far, our lawyers have on the basis of the verbal
judgement pronounced deciphered numerous grounds
of appeal, and are consequently headed for the Court of
Appeal.
“We have always believed from what we observed,
heard and perceived that the justice of our well
grounded case will be settled in the higher courts of our
land.
“We may in due course make further comments on this
judgement, which might as well have been written by
our opponents in the litigation.
“For the time being, we thank all Nigerians who
incidentally are seized of the facts of the sham that
took place in Anambra State in the name of elections
and the quality of evidence available to the tribunal at
the trial, for their moral support and trust that the
higher courts will have an opportunity to restore
whatever the judiciary has lost by this flawed
judgement”.
