Ramadan Messages: Pray for survival of Nigeria, Mark charges Muslims

Senate President David Mark, on Sunday, asked Muslims in the country to pray for the survival of Nigeria as the new Ramadan season begins. Mark, in a press statement endorsed by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, enjoined Muslims to make the continued survival of Nigeria a focal point of their prayers throughout the season. Senator Mark urged the Muslim faithful in Nigeria to pray for the nation and her people in order to overcome the trying times. Mark said in the statement: “More than any time else, the nation requires your support and prayers to triumph over forces of evil facing the nation. Our security operatives have been overstretched. Our people are daily being killed needlessly. Our only hope is in the divine intervention of the Almighty creator to salvage the situation. “It has, therefore, become imperative that you commit yourselves to praying for the peace, unity and survival of Nigeria in this holy month of Ramadan.” He also called for support and cooperation of all to the security operatives to combat the menace of insurgents ravaging the country. Senator Mark also called for religious tolerance between and among religious groups pointing out that in spite of the challenges of insecurity, the unity of Nigeria should not be compromised. In another development, the Senate President also kicked off the construction of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Asa -Otukpo , Benue State, on Sunday. The statement by his media office quoted him as tasking Christians to be more dedicated to the service of God and humanity. He said: “our existence as God’s creatures becomes more meaningful and worthwhile when we serve God and be of help to humanity, especially to the underprivileged.” “For me, my life has been full of testimonies, i have lived my entire life at the mercy and grace of the Almighty God. He has been faithful to me. I will always show appreciation and be part and parcel of His works. “We will all work together and build this church. That is one way we can support God’s work.” The Senate President donated the sum of N2.1million on behalf of himself and family towards the construction of the Church.
