We’ll reclaim Ekiti, Osun states — PDP scribe •Says FG’ll tackle use of fake security personnel

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reiterated its preparedness to reclaim Ekiti and Osun states, saying it would emerge victorious in the forthcoming governorship elections in both states. The National Secretary of the party, Professor Wale Oladipo, stated this yesteday, in Ede, during the party’s gubernatorial campaign, which began in Oriade Local Government on Thursday, noting that the party would leave no stone unturned to ensure it wins the election, charging the electorate to be vigilant during the elections. Oladipo further said that the federal government would not tackle any covert act by desperate politicians to arm fake military personnel and policemen to perpetrate electoral vices during the poll, noting that the President Goodluck Jonathan-led federal government possessed the capacity and wherewithal to contain or nip in the bud, moves by some vicious gladiators to thwart envisaged success of the electoral exercise. Also speaking before the crowd of supporters, the Osun PDP governorship candidate, Dr Iyiola Omisore, flayed the APC government for reversing the positive trend of education in the state, citing the state government’s non-chalant attitude to the over five months strike embarked upon by the state’s tertiary institutions as an example of the ills of the incumbent governor. Dr Omisore noted that if voted into power as the governor, he would restore the dignity of education and see to it that schools will have their identity restored, as he would abolish the same uniform police as well as other education policies that have thrown the education sector into crisis. Saying that his government will develop Osun with a human face rather than demolishing and destroying people’s property and means of livelihood without adequate compensation, Omisore said the PDP government will be “a government of Osun people for Osun people. Our money will no longer travel out of our reach to Lagos State, because Osun indigenes will execute jobs instead of importing people from Lagos, as the incumbent government has been doing.” Omisore’s running mate and former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Adejare Bello; the Osun PDP chairman, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, as well as other leaders who addressed the crowd of supporters, called on the people of the state to vote Aregbesola and the APC out of Osun State so as to restore the economy of the state and bring hope to the people.
