IMPEACHMENT AFTERMATH: Plots to probe me another Coup d’etat – Nyako
Murtala Nyako, a former governor of Adamawa State has
said that plots by the state House of Assembly to probe
him was a perfection of the illegality which the lawmakers
adopted in planning the coup d’etat called impeachment
used to unlawfully remove him from office.
Nyako who said this via a statement issued by his Director
of Press and Publicity, Ahmad Sajoh noted that the plan to
probe him will be carried out in the same manner the
illegal impeachment process went pointed out that the
framers of the 1999 constitution did not envisage a
situation whereby “the Provisions of the document will be
abused in the manner of a Coup d’etat as was done in the
illegal impeachment of Governor Nyako.
According to
him, while the
legitimacy of the
lawmakers was
aimed at
descrediting him,
he was not
expecting “a fair,
just and credible
enquiry from a
group that has
no respect for
constitutional
provisions or the
pronouncements of a competent court of law.”
“And like Coupist, the perpetrators of the act have
adopted the same modalities of reeling out false and
bogus figures, forceful removal of bonafide office holders
and intimidating those who refuse to succumb to their
strong arm tactics,” he added.
