Adamawa 2015: Group wants Ribadu to contest

Concerned Youth for Good Governance in Adamawa State, on Tuesday, called on the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu ,to contest for the governorship seat of Adamawa State under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While addressing delegates from the southern zone of the state, the chairman of the group, Alhaji Ibrahim Isah Toungo, told them that the group’s aim is to get an alternative to the deplorable condition of the state. He said the youth of the state are fully aware of the problems of the Adamawa State ,especially as it affects its corporate existence, developmental strives and to initiate a movement that would bring sanity to the state through much accepted norms of democracy. “It is based on this understanding and after due consideration, we called on all well- meaning citizens of Adamawa to support our crusade of saving the state from total collapse and decay occasioned by serious maladministration in the last 15 years, as history has shown that Adamawa citizens were co-existing peacefully for over 200 years. Also, we have identified Adamawa State problem to be that of corruption and in this case, Ribadu is not only capable but also noted in fighting corruption both locally and internationally, saying that Ribadu is a good material of sound mind and integrity which we believe if given the opportunity to serve, Adamawa State will benefit immensely from his wealth of experience. According to him one part of the strategies to bring sanity into the state, is to bring in a well deserved person as its chief executive to take the state out of the present mess, hence, the person should be a man of excellent moral background proper orientation, integrity, impeccable character and with a good track record of service. Isa Ibrahim further explained that it is because of the Ribadu’s sterling qualities that the group called on him to come out and salvage the situation by agreeing to join Peoples Democratic Party and contest the for the coming governorship election in the state. He said that in Nigeria, the PDP remains the only platform that can guarantee electoral victory because of its teeming supporters which rooted over 70 per cent support, since in the Nigerian political parties are only used as a platform for electoral purposes not for ideological differences.
