Former Abia State Governor, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, has
said the failure of Nigeria’s elite, political, business
and military class in joining hands with the federal
government to fight Boko Haram may jeopardise the
unity of the country and lead to its ultimate
disintegration.
Kalu spoke to journalists at the Murtala Muhammed
International Airport late Tuesday on his arrival from
the United Kingdom, saying President Goodluck
Jonathan may be Nigeria’s last president as a united
country.
The former governor expressed worry over the
incessant terrorist attacks in the northern part of the
country by Boko Haram, especially the kidnapping of
school girls in Chibok, Borno State, and warned that
Jonathan might become to Nigeria what Mikhail
Gorbachev was to the Union Soviet Socialist Republics
(USSR) when he presided over the disintegration of
USSR.
However, he noted that it was wrong to be heaping all
the blame on the doorsteps of the president and making
him look weak in the handling of the crisis without
much support from relevant Nigerian citizens and
institutions at a time the Jonathan administration is in
dire need of that

To prevent chaos, Jonathan must contest in 2015- OPC
Leader of the Odua Peoples Congress, Dr. Frederick
Fasheun has said President Goodluck Jonathan must
contest for a second term in 2015 in order to prevent a
breakdown of law and order in the country.
“Since there is a provision in the constitution for a
second term in office, Jonathan has the right to re-
contest and nobody should mount pressure on him to
drop the ambition,” he said.
“The militant group in the Niger-Delta may return to
the creeks if the President is denied the opportunity
in 2015,” he warned.
Fasheun said he was no a close ally of President

Tension over choice of Jonathan’s political adviser
A row has broken out among stakeholders of Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State over the
recommendation of Felix Tangwame as the new
Political Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan.
Tangwamen is being touted by some forces, including
one of the aides to the president, as successor to Mr
Ahmed Gulak, whose appointment was recently
terminated.
Although, the president has made up his mind to pick
another political adviser from Adamawa, some PDP
stakeholders were opposed to Tangwamen, on the basis
that it would be a violation of Federal Character
Principle.
The aggrieved stakeholders were claiming that since a
Muslim (Gulak) was removed, the president should
shop for a Muslim successor.
They alleged that since Boni Haruna, a Christian, was
earlier appointed a minister, the president should not
short-change Muslim community in Adamawa State.
It was learnt that the nomination of Tangwamen had
split PDP leaders in the state.
Some leaders were threatening protest vote in 2015 if
the President went ahead with Tangwamen’s choice.
“The recommendation of Tangwamen does not take
Be careful of detractors- Group tells Jonathan
A socio-political group, Safe Tower International
Organisation, STIO, has cautioned President Goodluck
Jonathan to beware of persons it described as ‘political
detractors’ bent on distracting him from fulfilling his
transformation agenda to the people, using subjective
criticisms and propaganda.
In a statement by Mr. Fidelis Aburime, STIO President,
the group noted that in its recent opinion poll, President
Jonathan had been the most criticised, disrespected and
insulted of the country’s heads of state.
Aburime said: “As revealed in the opinion poll carried
out by STIO, President Jonathan has been the most
criticised, disrespected, dishonoured and insulted, often
times through direct verbal attacks and name
