OSOGBO—A major  crisis of confidence is brewing in the Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over planned removal of the state secretary of the party, Major Raphael Tewogbola (rtd) by a faction of PDP suspected to be loyal to one of the party’s three governorship aspirants
Already the state working committee of the party had scheduled two meetings for the Party secretariat this morning to consider a motion for the secretary’s removal.
Investigation further revealed that  the first practical step towards achieving the removal started at the weekend with the collection of signatures from the Secretary’s ward in Ife Central Local Government area of the state calling for his removal.
The move was then followed by a senatorial meeting for Osun East Senatorial district which held at Osu yesterday, the reports of the two meetings will be tabled at today’s meeting.
Today’s meeting may, however, be stormy because the State Chairman who is allegedly leading the onslaught for the Secretary’s removal may receive a shocker and be confronted with allegations of wrong doings and a motion of no confidence may also be moved against him.
The state Chairman was alleged to be working for the success of one of the governorship aspirants who sees the Secretary as a stumbling block towards a plot to install him as Party’s candidate at the primaries slated for April 5, 2014.

A civil rights organization, Anti-Corruption Network, founded by a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dino Melaye, has called on the Federal Government not to sweep under the carpet the case of the missing $20 billion, which the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Malam Sanusi Lamido, alleged was not remitted to the Federation Account by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
A statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Melaye, who is the Executive Secretary of the organization, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said his group would soon stage a protest against the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Alison Diezani-Madueke.
He said, “We are organising the
mother of all protest against the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Alison Deziani-Madueke and the NNPC over the missing $20 billion and more. We shall no longer keep quiet over issues that concerns us as a people and may destroy our future.
“The Police and other security agencies should be ready to arrest, intimidate, harass, shoot, teargas and maltreat us. Nigerians should not be taken for granted. The time for change is now! We have no other country to call our own but Nigeria.
“We will not allow bigots and power usurpers to destroy our God’s-given country. Corruption is the bane of our development and we will fight it. In an unjust society, silence is a crime. Through this protest, we will prove that power truly belongs to the people and will call the attention of the world on Nigeria.
“Mobilisation is ongoing like never before. A date and time will be circulated soonest. No one can stop a moving train. We shall and must salvage our fatherland even with our blood. We will prove that though tribe and tongue may differ but in brotherhood we stand. We shall surely overcome the forces of evil. God bless Nigeria”.
