Two leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Borno State, Alhaji Modu Janga and Alhaji Abba were on Monday gunned down around Mafa Local Government Area by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect.
The two APC officials, were said to have come to Maidugur to sort out differences amongst supporters of the APC in the state, with regards to harmonizing their wards congress, and uniting factions within the party.
It was learnt that the two officials were returning to Gudumbali from Maiduguri, when the gunmen attacked their vehicle.
A source told DailyPost that “the insurgents blocked the road with wood and tree branches; they identified occupants of the vehicle and shot dead two persons on the spot, and fled towards Dikwa, a border town with Cameroon”.
According to him, the gunmen did not rob the party officials, as their vehicle was abandoned at the scene of the incident, adding that the road was also closed for two hours by soldiers and policemen to prevent further attacks.
