One killed, five arrested over Bauchi APC congress

One person has been confirmed killed by people suspected to be political thugs, while the police have arrested five people in connection with the killing. The man, whose name was withheld, was attacked during the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) Bauchi State ward congress in Warji Local Government Area of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the killing and the arrest. He said “one person was certified dead and five suspects have been arrested, and investigation
is in progress over the incident.”
The committee set up by the APC to conduct congresses in Bauchi State has however explained that yesterday’s ward congress was generally peaceful in all parts of the state
Secretary of the committee overseeing the ward congresses in state, Suleiman  Haruna, described the exercise as peaceful and successful saying there was a  large turnout of party members in the over 200 wards of the state.
Suleiman told newsmen in a telephone interview yesterday in Bauchi, that the exercise was not only peaceful but orderly and successful in many of the areas visited.
National officer of the party in the state, Captain Bala Jibi, commended the party members for their turnout and explained that ward executives would emerge at the end of the exercise, while five delegates would be elected from each ward for Saturday’s local government congress.
Captain Jibi said the people demonstrated enthusiasm and zeal for the exercise and explained that the large turnout showed the desire and commitment of the people to take over government at all levels in the 2015 general elections.
