Governorship candidate of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state, Senator Iyiola Omisore has said
that his party would not condone rigging in the August 9, governorship
election in the state.
Senator Omisore stated this yesterday at
the PDP national
secretariat when he received his certificate as the
party’s flag-bearer in the elections, saying election rigging in the
Southwest geo-political zone is worst than armed robbery. He said the challenge of removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and Southwest in general is gigantic but surmountable stressing that the party would not fold its arms and watch the APC perpetrate electoral fraud to continue in power.
“Election rigging in Southwest is worse than armed robbery and you know what armed robbery means. Everything in Osun State today is in shamble, it is comatose. We shall win convincingly beyond any reasonable doubt,” he said.
He said a key INEC official in the state has been proved beyond reasonable doubt by a court of competent jurisdiction to be a card carrying member of APC.
“This means that Jega has something to hide, and he must come to the public to explain to us what he has in stock for us,” he said.
National chairman of the party, Adamu Muazu charged Omisore to ensure that the PDP emerges victorious in the elections stressing the need for him to consult and work together with all the aspirants and other party members.
