APC fixes monday for state congress in Edo
The
All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo chapter, on Wednesday said it had
fixed Monday, May 12, for its rescheduled State Congress.
The
Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Godwin Erhahon, announced this in
an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin.
Erhahon attributed the delay in conducting the Congress to non conclusion of ward and local government congresses in the state.
He
said the ward and local government congresses would be concluded on
Saturday, adding, “we have met and resolved to conclude the congresses
on Monday.
“Ward and local government congresses in two or three local government areas yet to be concluded will be conducted on Saturday.
“Machinery
for the smooth conduct of the state congress have been put in place and
we are set for its peaceful conduct on Monday.
“The national
secretariat of the party had fixed Monday as deadline for the conduct of
all congresses across the federation,” he said.
On the recent
defection of some members from the party to the opposition, Erhahon
described the defectors as “bad heads” in the party.
He said their action was to give the APC a bad name, adding that their defection would not have negative effect on the party.
“We are happy that those who are giving us bad name have left. Their action will not have negative effect on the party.
