Chibok girls: Amaechi tells Nigerians to blame President Jonathan, PDP
Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday,
declared that all Nigerians have a fair share of blame
over the insecurity in the country.
Governor Amaechi said Nigerians should blame
themselves for the failure of security.
The Governor stated this at the solemn church service
held in honour of the abducted Chibok school girls to
mark the Children’s Day celebration at the Civic
Centre in Port Harcourt.
He noted that Nigerians should blame themselves for
electing wrong individuals to run the affairs of public
offices, adding that the issue of Chibok girls would not
have happened if there was reliable security in the
country.
The Rivers State Chief Executive also stressed that the
President Goodluck Jonathan-led Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, had failed Nigerians.
“The story of Chibok girls will not end today. It is the
story of a new beginning for Nigeria. The truth is that
you and I must rise up today to bring the children, to
demand for accountability; while Chibok girls were
kidnapped, PDP was in Kaduna doing rally. If God did
not allow it, Nigeria will not ask for change.
“I had received a letter that the President and the PDP
were coming to Rivers State to flag off their campaign;
this was 2 weeks after Chibok girls were kidnapped. I
think it was the protest that stopped that visit. So all of
us are responsible for the kidnap of Chibok girls, not
just the President.
“We voted this government in, we are also responsible
for their failure. We should not say to the President that
he has failed alone, we should say we have also failed
because we have chosen the current government. The
PDP government we have chosen appears to have failed
us”, he declared.
Amaechi further explained that change could only
come if Nigerians resolved to vote out the PDP in the
2015 general election.
The Governor stated that God allowed the kidnap of
the girls in order to expose the leaders and the
uncontrollable level of corruption.
He continued: “I have said it before; God is tired of
Nigeria, and now is the
better opportunity to choose another government.
Chibok girls are over 200. They are killing people
everyday.
“People are losing their children, losing their parents
everyday. They
went to Yobe State, burnt the whole school and killed
children. What did we do?
“God became fed up with Nigeria and decided to allow
the kidnap of Chibok girls. Why did God allow it?
“Nigeria is only interested in one thing, which is
corruption. These children have become sacrificial
lambs after Jesus Christ for the good and benefit of
Nigeria”.
