Declare full scale emergency rule in Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Ijaw Youth to Jonathan

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has joined its voice with those of other people calling for the declaration of a full scale emergency rule in the insurgence-turn northern states of Bornu, Adamawa and Yobe with military administrators in charge. This is just as members of the ethnic nationality have threatened to return to the creeks if Boko Haram is still hell-bent in making Nigeria ungovernable through its satanic activities. President of IYC, Udengs Eradiri, said these during President Goodluck Jonathan’s kick-off of the Nigerian Maritime University and Shipyard and Dockyard at Okerenkoko in Warri South West Local Goverment Area of Delta State last weekend. “We want to advise that no nation has a monopoly of violence. If Boko Haram does not stop these senseless killings and attempts to make Nigeria ungovernable, we of the Niger Delta would not have any option than to return to the creeks,” the group warned. While claiming to have intimated the presidential adviser on Niger Delta, Mr Kingsley Kuku, on its resolve, Eradiri further warned that any attempt on the life of President Jonathan and his family would result in the quest for self-determination by Niger Deltans. The group, while lauding the international community for wading into the Chibok Schoolgirls’ abduction saga by Boko Haram, called on the National Assembly to avail the president the required support to rescue the girls as well as end insurgency in the country.
