Democracy Day: IG puts police on alert
As the nation marks Democracy Day on Thursday, the
Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar,
on Wednesday, directed officers in special units to be
on alert.
A statement issued in Abuja by the Spokesman of the
force, CSP Frank Mba, said Abubakar gave the
directive after a meeting with the force management
team.
He directed zonal AIGs, CPs in charge of intelligence,
command commissioners, officers in charge of counter-
terrorism, special and protection squads, and mobile
police to ensure effective and strategic deployment of
personnel.
He assured Nigerians that measures had been put in
place to ensure hitch-free celebration, adding that the
police and other security agencies were working to
ensure that.
