Against the backdrop of the information that
some key leaders of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) in Osun State have perfected plans
to move en masse to the ruling All Progressives
Congress (APC) in the state, Honourable
Oluwole Busayo Oke, a former governorship
aspirant under the banner of the PDP, on
Tuesday, cautioned against such step.
In an apparent reaction to the alleged purported
plan of by the former governor of Osun State,
Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and an aggrieved ex-
PDP governorship aspirant, Senator Isiaka
Adeleke to declare for the APC soon, Oke
counseled the duo against “dumping the party,
they had jointly built and nurtured.”
The former federal legislator, who was the
chairman on Committee on Defence in the
House of Representatives, admitted that PDP
was allegedly
sick, but posited that “you don’t
kill a sick person but rally round him to recover
from his ailment.”
Reacting to the development in a statement
signed by his Director of his Media and Publicity
for Wole Oke Campaign Organsiation (WOCO),
Barrister Yemi Giwa, Oke asserted that “there
were some clear reasons, ranging from
arrogance, larger than life attitude and lack of
demonstration of true and meaningful
reconciliation to alienate people from the party,
yet, they were still not more than domestic
squabbles which the party could resolve
internally.”
Commenting on the development, Omisore, in
an email forwarded to journalists on Tuesday by
his the Director of Media and Strategy, Prince
Diran Odeyemi, lauded the spirit of Oke,
describing him as true party man, who had
shown unalloyed commitment to the cause and
progress of the PDP, not only in Osun, but also
in Nigeria as a whole.
