Osun 2014: Omisore our major concern —APC

In earnest preparation for the August 9, 2014 governorship poll, Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, inaugurated the campaign committee for the re-election bid of its candidate, Governor Rauf Aregbesola, admitting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearer, Senator Iyiola Omisore, remains the major challenge to the ruling party.
Inaugurating the committee, at the party’s secretariat, the acting chairman of the APC in the state, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi, said the major challenge for the party was Senator Iyiola Omisore, declaring that “confronting Omisore was like confronting a violent organisation.”
He alleged that the PDP and its gubernatorial standard bearer, Omisore “have nothing progressive to offer the people of Osun State except violence, rigging and
destruction.”

While noting that the opposition party was allegedly banking on violence before and during the poll as a means of winning the election, Adebiyi said the “PDP believes in manipulation and rigging.”
He, however, tasked the committee members to use constructive peaceful methods to neutralise alleged PDP’s campaign of terror and also educate the people about the critical issue involved in the coming elections.
“The critical issue of this election is whether or not Osun wants to progress or allow terrorists to destroy all that our party has achieved in the last four years. So, you have an idea of what the real task of the committee is,” Adebiyi remarked.
He further implored members of the committee to keep the State Working Committee (SWC) abreast of events as they unfold before the election, with a view to guaranteeing victory for Aregbesola and the APC in the election.
Members of the committee were chosen from the nine federal constituencies of the state with chairmen and secretaries appointed in each of the constituencies.
