Villagers kill scores of Boko Haram gunmen, arrest 10 others in Borno[Daily Post]
Residents of Kalabalge village in Borno State
displayed gallantry on Tuesday when they foiled
another deadly attack by Boko Haram by killing
many of the attackers.
The villagers captured ten of the terrorists alive,
witnesses and security officials told DailyPost.
DailyPost learnt that the gunmen had in their
usual manner attempted to attack Kalabalge
village in the wee hours of Tuesday, but the
attack was foiled when villagers led by local
vigilantes confronted them and got many killed.
Sources claimed that Kalabalge residents had
fortified their village spiritually to avert any
attack by the terrorists.
Many of such attempts were severally foiled in
the past.
According to one of the sources, “That is why
most attacks by the Boko Haram on our village
failed because they cannot come in here to kill
people; it is impossible”.
A top security source who confirmed the
incident to DailyPost on phone said the villagers
had also seized two of the vehicles belonging to
the Boko Haram attackers.
“The insurgents tried to attack the villager as at
5 am of this morning (Tuesday) but the vigilante
and some members of the village who got hint of
the attack laid ambush and were able to kill as
many of them as possible, while about ten of
them were caught alive; they also recovered two
trucks from the insurgents”, said the security
source who craved anonymity.
Kalabalge is about 200km away from
Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
