Borno: Sheriff, senators plan to dump APC

Hundreds of All Progressive Congress (APC), stakeholders and political office holders as well as political strategists from Borno State are trooping to the Maitama house at Usuma street of the former governor and Borno political godfather, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff in the bid to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Tribune learnt. It was gathered that, the plan to dump the APC by the former governor to PDP is attracting an unprecedented followers with two out of the three Borno senators said to have inducted interest indicating to join the PDP. Our correspondent gathered that, amongst the eight APC members on the House of Representatives from Borno, six of them have already pitched their tent with Sheriff, making eight members of the House of Representatives from Borno on his train heading for PDP. It was also learnt that, 17 members of the Borno state House of Assemble were amongst hundreds of APC stakeholders from Borno who recently visited the Abuja Home of the political Icon to show respect loyalty and allegiance as well as promise to go with him to the end of the world. Amongst the 21 Borno Commissioners now standing with the government, 16 were reported to have either go to Abuja for the same purpose as the other APC stakeholders or had send representative who carry their massage of loyalty and indication of interest to move to PDP with their political godfather. A close associate of the Borno governor, Kashim Shettima, who did not want his name in print also told Sunday Tribune that the governor is in serious dilemma now with the news filtering that some of his most trusted allied are turning the table against him with their recent visit to Abuja and indicating interest to dump the APC for PDP, a move they are all planning for shortly after the Ramadan fast. It was also gathered that, recently, Governor Shettima was in the homes of some of them, who quit Government House over certain misunderstanding. According to sources, they told the governor that, they were not angry with him, but chose not to be around Government House because they were tired of politics and were thinking of retiring. However, it was reported that, they have also sent massages to the former Governor Sheriff, to be included in the new PDP formation he is planning to unveil after the Ramadan fast.[Tribune]
