Commisioner Of Police Bans All Protests Over Kidnapped Schoolgirls In Abuja
The Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu, on Monday,
June 2, 2014 announced a ban on all protests in Abuja
demanding freedom for the Chibok schoolgirls
kidnapped by Boko Haram, the News Agency of
Nigeria reports.
Since more than 200 girls were kidnapped from
Government Secondary School, Chibok, in Borno on
April 14, 2014, groups have ran several protests in the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) demanding the Federal
Government to “Bring Back Our Girls.”
The announcement of the ban comes days after persons,
suspected to be pro-government thugs, attacked a
group of women protesters who have been holding
daily peaceful protests in the Nigerian capital city.
