Group warns Boko Haram sponsors to stop harassing Jonathan
THE Niger Delta Self-Determination Movement (NDSDM)
has warned those it called sponsors of the dreaded terrorist
group, Boko Haram, to desist from further harassing
President Goodluck Jonathan, his administration and the
country.
This was as it also warned the insurgent group to stay away
from the Niger Delta region, saying it would not tolerate
any attack on the lives and property in the region.
The group, in a communiqué issued at the end of its one-
day forum with the Niger Delta delegates at the ongoing
national conference, held in Port Harcourt at the weekend,
said it would not take likely any attack on any part of
Southern Nigeria, particularly the Niger Delta.
NDSDM, in the communique signed by its information and
research officers, Livingstone Wechie and Biebele Armie,
respectively, said lives and property in the part of the
country meant so much to it.
“We warn the sponsors and executors of terrorism in the
name of Boko Haram and their likes in Nigeria to desist
from trying to harass President Goodluck Jonathan, his
administration and the rest of Nigeria.”
“We shall no longer tolerate same should any part of
Southern Nigeria, particularly the Niger Delta region be
attacked in any manner as our lives and property means so
much to us”, the statement read in part.
The group, while restating its firm support for the
president, called on other regions to do the same,
maintaining the call was in the collective interest of all.
Advocating for 100 per cent land and natural resources
ownership and regional autonomy, it also expressed
solidarity with the Abuja Original inhabitants to insist on
justice over the ownership rights of their land.
It said it was aware of the presence of untapped mineral
resources in the North, alleging that these were
deliberately being reserved until the oil and gas currently
being explored and exploited were completely exhausted.
