INEC sets up voter education committee in Bauchi
AS political activities gear up ahead of the
2015 general election, the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) in
Bauchi State on Monday set up an Inter-Agency
Advisory Committee on Voter Education and
Publicity (NICVEP) to educate and mobilise
Nigerians to fully participate in the electoral
processes.
Speaking while inaugurating the nine-man
committee, the state Resident Electoral
Commissioner (REC), Mr Samuel Madaki
Usman, stated that there was an urgent need to
enlighten the electorate with a view to
mobilising them to participate in the country’s
electoral processes considering previous voters’
apathy.
Usman said setting up the committee was part of
INEC efforts to enlighten and mobilise effective
participation of Nigerians in electoral processes,
saying that voter education was central to
promoting positive response among Nigerians.
