Obiano Set To Fight Insecurity With Job Creation
Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano,
has assured the youths and the
unemployed of his readiness to provide
over five hundred thousand jobs to as
many as are willing to work.
He announced the plan aimed at in ridding
the state of all criminal elements after the
Joint Security Operation embarked on a
show of might in the rural communities of
the state as most criminals who have fled
the urban areas as a result of the brigade
attack on them were hibernating in the rural
villages.
The governor said registration of
unemployed youths had commenced in the
21 Local Government Areas of the state and
called on all youths to utilise the
opportunity and get employment.
From the Divisional Police Station, Ogidi,
in Idemili North Local Government Area,
the Joint Security Operation comprising the
Police, Army, Navy, State Security Service,
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency
and the Civil Defense moved in a convoy to
patrol the rural areas.
The patrol was not to create fear or terror in
the hearts of the people but it was a show of
might and superiority over kidnappers and
armed robbers in order to affirm the resolve
of the Joint Security Operation to
dismantling their command and control
centers for those who have fled the major
cities of the state. The state commissioner of
police urged the rural residents to give
information to the police if any unknown
fellow or activity is noticed in their
neighborhood.
When the patrol team got to Oyeagu
Abagana, Dunukofia local government area,
residents express satisfaction at the level of
security they are presently enjoying unlike
before.
People stood in awe and wonder as the
patrol team moved from Oyeagu to the
notorious Awkuzu Junction where navy and
military check points were permanently
stationed.
On issues of security and unemployment in
the state, the Governor assured the people
of his commitment to a safe and secure
Anambra and announced the registration of
youths in the 21 Local Government Areas
for meaningful job opportunities.
It is on record that within the two months
the Joint Security Operation onslaught
commenced in the state. Over 250 criminals
have been arrested with 47 as kidnappers.
Their property and hideouts have also been
demolished with the latest being the
Ezinifite and Azia demolition which took
