Nyako must go- PDP

Even though a court has ordered the Adamawa state assembly not to go ahead with its impeachment plot against the state governor, Murtala Nyako, for now, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa state has backed the impeachment moves publicly. The party disclosed in a communiqué endorsed and signed by 56 stakeholders of the party, and made available to newsmen in Yola, that it was important for both Nyako, and his deputy, James Ngilari, to be impeached. According to them, the administration has brought Adamawa state down to its knees politically, economically, infrastructure-wise and security-wise. The PDP insisted that the policies of the state government have been misguided and have worsened the social and religious tensions in the state by creating ethnic and religious distrust amongst the various groups. Also, the PDP accused Nyako of entrenching lawlessness, unconstitutionality, corruption, nepotism, favouritism and dishonesty in governance to the point that people can no longer condone the regime. The solution, according to the PDP, is for Nyako and Ngilari to be impeached so that fresh elections can be conducted in the state in three months. Meanwhile, the director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Nyako, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, has described the support given by the Adamawa State PDP to impeachment move as the height of impunity as a court of competent jurisdiction had ordered the stoppage of the process. Sajo said PDP’s position had unravelled the unseen hands in the bizarre impeachment process, adding that the action underscored the tendency of the party to go to any length to fulfill its selfish goal. He described the PDP stakeholders as the real enemies of the Adamawa people.
