PDP national body don’t enforce aspirants on states —Olopoenia
IT is not in the character of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) national body to
enforce on or choose governorship candidate
for states chapters and the case of Oyo State
cannot be different.
Making this assertion was a PDP chieftain,
Alhaji Rasheed Adebisi Olopoenia, while
featuring on an Splash FM radio programme in
Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday.
He said each state chapter of the party knew its
aspirants; those who could help win elections in
their various states and as such, there was no
point enforcing any aspirant on the party by the
national body.
On the alleged leadership tussle bedevilling the
party, Olopoenia said nothing of such existed.
According to him, all the groups had
unanimously agreed that Chief Yekini Adeojo
was their leader and the issue of authentic
chairman of the party had no basis.
Olopoenia concluded by commending
President Goodluck Jonathan’s effort at curbing
the spread of Boko Haram insurgency to other
states of the country. He remained optimistic
that the security agencies in the country would
soon overpower it.
