PDP slams group over attempt to declare Biafra

The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South East zone, Col Austin Akobundu (rtd), on Tuesday slammed the Biafra Zionist Federation, BZF, over its attempt to declare the Republic of Biafra.
BZF, a pro-secessionist group had forcefully invaded of Enugu State Broadcasting Service, (ESBS) in attempt to declare the Republic of Biafra.
In a statement issued to journalists in Enugu, the PDP Zonal leader insisted that the sole intention of the group was to paint the south-east in bad light in view of the security challenges facing the country at the moment.
He said members of the group may not have reflected deeply on the implications of their actions before embarking on such suicidal venture, stressing that their actions not only embarrassed Ndigbo at home and in the Diaspora but made them to discover that some
rascals in their midst can go to the extreme in order to solicit for a phantom objective.
It could be recalled that at least two persons, including police sergeant and a civilian were last Thursday killed when members of the BZF stormed Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) to allegedly declare a state of Biafra.
The leader of the group and London trained lawyer, Ben Igwe Onwuka, who had earlier been declared wanted by the police for the March 7, 2014 invasion of Enugu State Government House, was however arrested by the police along other 12 suspects even as many escaped.
