Plateau PDP suspends party chairman
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Plateau State has
announced the suspension of its chairman, Haruna Dabin.
Mr. Dabin’s suspension was contained in a communiqué
produced at the end of the State Executive Committee meeting
of the party.
The meeting was held at the Government House, Jos, an
indication it had the support of the Plateau Governor, Jonah
Jang.
Mr. Dabin had earlier described the meeting as illegal saying he
was not aware of and did not call for it.
“An illegal meeting can only produce illegal results,” the
embattled chairman said of the meeting which he said was
called by the state party secretary, Pam Saleh.
Monday’s communiqué said Mr. Dabin’s deputy, Raymond
Davou, should act as chairman.
PREMIUM TIMES had reported how the police sealed the party
secretariat of the Plateau PDP on Monday morning.
Mr. Dabin has been having problems in the state since he
declared his intention to run for governor on the platform of the
party.
The party chairman hopes to replace Governor Jang who is also
a member of the PDP.
