The Senate said it has passed a total number of 12 Bills into law from June, 2013 to June, 2014.
Chairman Senate committee on Rules and
Business Senator Ita Enang (PDP, Akwa Ibom), said within the period, the
upper chamber had also received 187 bills.
Of the 187 bills, nine were executive bills forwarded by President Goodluck Jonathan, while 178 were private members’ bills.
Enang, who briefed journalists at the National Assembly on Monday revealed that 14 bills were read a second time and referred to the relevant committees and said: “We will prioritise these and expedite the report of these bills as we resume from the end of the 3rd session.”
Similarly, the red chamber, according to Enang, passed 24 “land-mark” resolutions within the last one year.
On resumption on June 24, the lawmakers said they will give priority
to
the confirmation of the four ministerial nominees submitted by the
