Senate President Congratulates New Leaders In APC.
Senate President David Mark has sent a
message of congratulation to the new leadership of All
Progressive Congress (APC) in the aftermath of the party’s
National Convention held on Friday.
Mark, in the congratulatory message, urged the APC
National Chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun and the
National Executive of the party to put the interest of the
nation above personal or party interest.
He stated: “Whichever political divide we may belong,
what must, of a necessity, be paramount is the survival of
our country under a democratic dispensation. I know Chief
Oyegun as a patriotic Nigerian who would strive to make
our society a better place.
“ I can only remind him not to deviate from this path of
honour. Whatever makes for good of the country and her
people should without compromise be his watchword. The
era of intra or inter-party wrangling should be discarded
for good.”
The Senate President said there was the need for credible,
strong and viable opposition party that would reinforce
government resolve to deliver dividends of democracy to
the citizenry.
According to him, what the nation needed was collective
efforts irrespective of different political affiliation and
political differences.
