2015: APGA To Support Goodluck Jonathan

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is to support the presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 elections. The APGA national chairman, Chief Victor Umeh who said this in Umuahia while briefing newsmen after the commissioning of the Abia State Secretariat of the party in Umuahia disclosed that the leadership of the party has initiated talks with the PDP with a view to fine-tuning the agreement. He said that part of the pact would be for APGA to support the re-election bid of President Jonathan in 2015 but that the president should not interfere in any other elective position that any APGA candidate is contesting. According to him, some other areas that would be considered under the pact would be on appointment of APGA members by the PDP federal government. He described the cordial relationship between the APGA and PDP as a good development which would further engender the political development of the country, adding that the relationship does not mean that APGA would support any policy of the ruling party that is against the interest of Nigeria. Chief Umeh said that APGA would win more states during the next elections as rigging is no longer easy in the country, pointing out that people are now more conscious of their rights and are more prepared to monitor their votes. He used the forum to challenge women and youths to come out and participate in the forthcoming general election through seeking elective positions under APGA. Earlier while commissioning the secretariat, he said the party would take over Abia State in 2015, as according him APGA would retrieve it from PDP. According to Chief Umeh, “APGA is the custodian of the electoral goodwill of Ndigbo” and its government is always out to fight and protect the interest of Ndigbo.
