Adamawa assembly set to impeach Nyako
Adamawa state assembly according to reports is set
to impeach Governor Murtala Nyako and deputy Bala
Ngilari over N120 million alleged to have been fraudulently
spent on retired General Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to
Adamawa State amongst other allegations.
According to an insider, the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) leaders in Adamawa State have given the state
House of Assembly a nod to continue with the
impeachment process on Governor Nyako and his deputy,
Ngilari, instructing the lawmakers to ensure that Nyako is
impeached.
Nyako, Ngilari had failed to appear before the panel
constituted to investigate the allegations against them
following an earlier noticed served the executives by the
assembly members.
Reports had it that the arrogance by the Governor and
deputy for ignoring the panel did not only fastback the
decision reached but some chieftains of the governors
party, All Progressives Congress in the state are in support
of his ouster.
The house of assembly members had claimed that the
N120 million was diverted to sponsor a fictitious visit of
Buhari to the state to commiserate with victims of
insurgency in Madagali and Michika LGA.
The house according to media reports dropped
allegation that Nyako fraudulently awarded a contract of
over N8 billion through SNECOU Group of Companies Ltd,
a company linked to one of the governor’s wives to siphon
public funds without delivering any services to the people.
But members insists that the dropping of some of the
allegations would not save the governor if any of the
subsisting allegations are proven as the governor would
be guilty of breaching section 188 of the Constitution.
