Wike’s alleged resignation, a misleading falsehood —PDP
Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Felix Obuah, has described
as false, misleading and spurious, the media report that
Chief Nyesom Wike has resigned his appointment as
the Minister of State for Education and as a member of
the Federal Executive Council.
Obuah, in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr
Jerry Needam, in Port Harcourt, on Monday, said it was
not true that the Rivers PDP chieftain had resigned.
“The leader of the PDP in Rivers State and Minister of
State for Education, Chief Wike, has not resigned. He is
still a minister and a member of the Federal Executive
Council. Therefore, the publication is completely false
and misleading,” he said.
The Rivers PDP chairman alleged that the national
newspaper involved (not the Nigerian Tribune) had, on a
daily basis, been acting contrary to the ethics of
journalism, writing “malevolent, criminal, spurious,
misleading and apparently paid reports,” all targeted at
PDP and Wike.
