APC leadership moves to reconcile aggrieved members

The leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has commenced moves to reconcile aggrieved members, some of whom have expressed intentions to vacate the party. National Publicity Secretary of APC, Lai Mohammed, who disclosed this said, a committee to reconcile its members that have been aggrieved, following its last national congress held in June at Abuja has been set up. Already, the committee headed by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, is set to reconcile the governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, and the former governor of the state, Chief Segun Osoba. According to reports from Daily Independent, Mohammed, who spoke on phone, expressed belief that the committee, which was constituted by the leadership of the party has the prime mandate to resolve every grievance being nursed by party members so as to move the party forward. “The committee is working; and I believe that they will be able to reconcile all the aggrieved members and keep our party moving, so there is no problem about that”, he said. The party spokesperson urged members of the party to remain calm as the party remained focus as it was ready to form the next government at the center. Other members of the committee include, the governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, and the former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva. Immediately after the national congress, Abubakar had appealed to aggrieved members of the party to show maturity and remain in the party. Similarly, the National Chairman of the party, John Odigie- Oyegun, promised to reconcile aggrieved members and keep the party united. Oyegun said his priority was to bring back all those who were disgruntled after his election as chairman of the party. “I am already meeting with all those who were disgruntled after my election to ensure that the party remained united,” he said. The chairman described the APC as the government in waiting and promised to do his best in order to move the party forward. Also, Joe Igbokwe, spokesperson of the party in Lagos State, accentuated the importance of the Atiku committee, saying the committee was necessary because every human being was important and as such must not be underrated. He said: “Nobody is a zero person in this world as long as that person is sane. “No person is less important and everybody can make the difference. “That is why the APC is not leaving anybody behind in our quest to make difference in governance in Nigeria.” Going further, he explained that every vote was important in any political environment since one single vote could make the difference. “United States of America (USA) is speaking English today and not French because of just one vote. “One person will can determine your fate. So, we cannot joke with that one person; we will not leave anybody behind” , he added.
