‘APC WILL DRAW FROM THE EKITI EXPERIENCE’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun studying the Ekiti electoral experience in order to ascertain what went wrong during the election, a chieftain of the party Captain Sam Ewang (rtd) has said. He said the study was to enable the party draw from its strength and weakness in order to correct it and actualized its objectives of taking government in 2015. Speaking to Daily Trust in Uyo, Ewang who is a former military Governor of Rivers and Ogun States, said the party would come out strong at the end of 2015 elections. ‘’So many lessons have been learnt and more are still being studied. You see, elections are rigged through two things; these days, through technology or through ballot papers. The Ekiti Election was rigged; even the people are not ready to say the truth,” he said. He questioned the rationale for deploying over 30,000 soldiers to a state like Ekiti apart from other security personnel in the state, stressing that what happened was a mockery of democracy. “Leaders of APC were arrested 12 midnight before the elections. Other leaders of other political parties from other states were stopped from entering Ekiti, but the leaders of PDP were not stopped or arrested, so, would you call that an election?” he queried. However, he said he foresees the party growing stronger and stronger and taking over power in 2015 because of the caliber of people who may contest for president under the party’s platform next year. ‘’If you have somebody like Buhari; except the very foolish ones who will not want him to be the president of this country, but anyone who is thinking about Nigeria being there in the comity of nations will tell you that Buhari is the most qualified person in Nigeria today,” he said.
