National Leader of Accord Party and former governor
of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has maintained
that he has not endorsed any aspirant under the
platform of the party to contest 2015 governorship
ticket, noting that he will pick expression of interest
form with a view to contesting 2015 gubernatorial
election in the state.
The former governor disclosed this on Monday, while
fielding questions from journalists, shortly after
observing the Eid-prayer at the University of Ibadan
(UI) Central Mosque, Ibadan.
He also hinted that the party had instructed its
members in the State House of Assembly to distance
themselves from any attempt at
plunging the state
into security crisis and chaos on the purported plan to
impeach Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
“I can only endorse myself. I intend to pick the
expression of interest form to contest 2015
governorship election, but this will be based on if my
party wishes that I should contest the election,” he
said.
The former governor said contesting 2015 election
would be dependent on the views and wishes of
members of Accord Party.
According to Ladoja, there was no reason for a State
House of Assembly to wake up suddenly, accusing the
governor over any misconduct towards the end of his
administration.
He challenged the lawmakers, stating that if there were
any of such plan, to publish such for people to see.
The former governor said he had suffered impeachment
and got justice from the Supreme Court of Nigeria and
would never support any impeachment plan.
“I cannot understand the basis of anybody in the State
House of Assembly suddenly waking up to nurse any
impeachment ambition against Governor Ajimobi. In
any case Accord is not a party to it,” he said.
